When I saw the UKZN Press announcement on this book, I immediately wanted to know more – like many others, no doubt – and so set about pestering the publisher for an excerpt.
A book with Antjie Krog’s name on it is always going to pique one’s interest: but here, she is in collaboration with two other noted voices, Kopano Ratele and Nosisi Mpolweni. The three of them reach back in time and pull forward a thread of Truth and Reconciliation Commission testimony – given by a mother who lost a son in the Guguletu Seven massacre – in an attempt to fashion a key that, held by three hands, might unlock South African racial and cultural misunderstandings.
